We're honoured to be in support of Shropshire Breast and Prostate Cancer Services.
Shropshire Breast Service since 1989
18,000 patients both men and women visit the service each year. The service specialises in the treatment of all breast conditions and each year the service will deal with more than 500 new breast cancers and benign disease.
Each patient treated by the service is designated with a key worker, which is usually one of the Breast Care Nursing Team. This gives the patient and their families an immediate point of contact for support, advice, information from diagnosis, throughout treatment and follow-up and ensures that a trained specialist is on hand to explain in detail the care that the service provides.
Currently, well women aged between 50 and 70, who are registered with a GP Practice in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, are screened every three years. The aim of breast screening is to detect breast cancer at an earlier stage, often before the woman is aware of any problem. Early detection may mean simpler and more successful treatment.
The service requires funding to update the specialist equipment used.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with over 40,000 new cases diagnosed every year.
Prostate cancer usually develops slowly, so there may be no signs you have it for many years. Symptoms often only become apparent when your prostate is large enough to affect the urethra
Prostate cancer is managed through The Urology department at the Princess Royal Hospital and provides a comprehensive treatment programme comprising of various procedures.
The chances of developing prostate cancer increase as you get older. Most cases develop in men aged 50 or older.
Rock and Bowl Festival is very proud to be supporting both of these amazing units within the local Telford and Wrekin hospital. Their work is crucial for so many, and we hope to raise awareness for both causes.

Why Rock and Bowl Festival have chosen to support the MS Society at our 10 year event
The MS Society is a charity dedicated to the support of people with Multiple Sclerosis and their families. It’s a community made up of people living with MS, scientists, volunteers campaigners and fundraisers.
Their tireless work helps to fund research in to more, and better treatments, to provide up to date information in their award winning publications and to provide support through their email service and helpline.
These much needed services can provide a lifeline for people living with MS and their loved ones. Sadly without the generosity of public donations they wouldn’t be able to provide all of these fantastic services.
We'll be supporting this worthwhile cause, along with two other charities, at our 10 year event this May.

Why we're the festival with a big heart...
We have always internally been passionate about how Rock and Bowl is the small festival with a big heart. It's one of the reasons we all love working as part of the Rock and Bowl team.
But why is this so important to us? And what do we do to achieve this?
GREEN tinted glasses
Held on the Market Drayton Picnic Area in Shropshire, we have the most perfect, boutique location to hold our Festival. However, for the rest of the year it's a town location where the residents of Market Drayton walk their dogs, have family picnics and go to play a game of football. We have this in the for-front of our minds when Festival planning, making sure we leave our precious festival area in the best shape possible after each event.
Also, this year we have taken a big step forward and decided to only sell tickets online. Although a lot of our festival-goers have previously purchased paper tickets from local vendors, we're putting our best green foot forward for 2018. By limited our ticket sales to just online, we can reduce our paper usage and save some trees!
It's the hot topic at the moment! However, we've always tried to be plastic conscious, by offering a discount for bar patrons by using our Stack Cups. Whilst the stack cups are made of plastic, it reduces the need of disposable plastic beer glasses for every drink. And were pleased to say it has drastically reduced our litter and plastic usage over the years!
Also the bar will only be using bio-degradable straws to serve with drinks, so you can sip with an empty conscious!
For those that have been to Rock and Bowl Festival before, you'll know each of our sets are packed with lighting shows, brought to us by industry professionals such as Nic Farman Lighting & Ashley Heritage Lighting. However, did you know all of our stage lighting and screens are LED? This means much less power consumption per light used. And over the weekend, that's a LOT of power consumption saved!
Music to our ears
No festival is complete without an amazing sound system - and ours certainly packs a punch! What might surprise you to know is that we use a modern, digital sound system which uses less power than a conventional one of the same size! Also, because of the technology we use, this ultimately means less sound pollution to the town and neighbouring residents. We work closely with Shropshire council to ensure we meet all sound restrictions for the event too.
It's quite easy, being GREEN!
With thanks to one of our main sponsors, AR Richards, we are able to recycle all of our Festival refuge and waste, as the team at AR Richards kindly donate us a number of skips to ensure we can responsibly deal with our refuge.
We have a team of litter pickers who operate before, during and after each day of the festival, and we always aim to leave the site looking tidier and more litter-free than when we arrived!
Rock and Bowl Festival 2018 will be held on 26th-28th May this year, on the Picnic Area in Market Drayton, Shropshire.

Stuck for what to bring to Rock and Bowl Festival? We've got you covered
Don't rock 'til you get enough!
Bringing back the magic, it's Ben: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute.
Playing at festivals all across Europe, we're very excited to announce this amazing act will be hitting our stage on Monday 28th May, just before our headlining act Hipster.
He's got the moves, the voice, the look and the Michael Jackson stage presence 'down to a T'... certainly going to be a 'Thriller' performance (bad pun, we're sorry... it's just 'the way he's making us feel'...)
And if you don't like it... just BEAT IT! (We're stopping now, honest)
Don't worry - your festival favourites are back!
.The boys are back, so you know it's time to party! Festival favourites Hipster are back, and headliner our main stage on Monday 28th May.
With their mix of rock, pop and indie covers, they know all the best songs to get you dancing and singing along. Always an exciting and energetic crowd-pleaser, we welcome back our extended festival family members to the centre stage!
Many of you may have seen these guys perform before at Rock and Bowl Festival, so here's somethings you may not know:
"You guys were amazing. Absolutely awesome" - HRH Prince Harry
Each year they put on a fantastic show, so we can't wait to see what they are bringing to our 10 year event this summer!
Ay-ay-ayyy, ay-ay-ayyy... here come The Superskas!
Just thinking about these guys makes us want to jump up and dance! We are ecstatic to welcome back The Superskas! It's been a couple of years since we've had this amazing ska band on our stage, and we were getting serious withdrawal symptoms.
“The Superskas allow the audience to relive the experience of one of the UKs most exciting musical movements” The Express & Star newspaper
If you've not had the pleasure of watching them perform before, they are an eight piece (so many instruments!) authentic ska band, with over 10 years experience.
They'll be playing at Rock and Bowl Festival on Monday 28th May 2018 - Get your dancing shoes on and join us in the field!
Tickets are still available folks, just go to our ticket page!
Small music festivals are the best! There, we've said it!
It's the most wonderful time of the year! And clearly, we're not on about Christmas... Festival season is almost upon us!
If you hadn't guessed already, we kind of LOVE festivals. But what is it that makes small music festivals, such as Rock and Bowl, so great? There's been an increasing amount of small festivals pop up around the UK, and whilst the giants (V Fest, Download etc) are still very much alive, more and more people are opting for the smaller, boutique festival experience.
Well right or wrong, here's our take on why small music festivals rock that much harder!
Number 1 - The Crew!
Obviously, this is not the case for all (or most) small festivals, but our crew in particular is made up entirely of volunteers! That's a whole team of people coming together, donating their time and skill-sets to putting on an amazing show. So if we're not in it for the money, why bother? Easy, we're passionate people and we graft all year because we want to be part of bringing our event to life. And we think that love and enthusiasm definitely shines through over the weekend.
Number 2 - The Talent
The quality of bands on our stages is something we're VERY particular about. We literally have hundreds of applications from bands wanting to perform at Rock and Bowl. And (hopefully) you'll agree, we deliver the very best in local and far away talent. We love how humble, passionate, enthusiastic and fun our bands are each year, and it's hard to envision bigger festivals having that same experience with the larger acts.
Number 3 - The Atmosphere!
We've all been to big festivals, and absolutely loved it. But at a smaller festival, the difference is undeniable. Perhaps, it's because you don't have to wait 45 minutes in a portaloo queue at a small event, but the energy and buzz at Rock and Bowl has always been phenomenal. Just walking around, we see strangers talking and making friends, families dying in shame as the Dad starts head banging and we've even had a couple of requests for people wanting to propose on stage. It truly is a community spirited event, whether you come from the local town or miles away, there's always new people to talk to, bands to bond over and dance offs to be had.
Rock and Bowl is back for our tenth festival! Saturday 26th - Monday 28th May 2018.
